Start with preschools and play schools in your own node. Then pick the ones that are play-based, have trained teachers, and are signed up with the state. Look for rooms on the ground floor, a safe play area and a clear pick-up rule. In Kamothe and Kalamboli, MNR Golden Kids runs four centres, from Playgroup to Senior KG.

Choosing a preschool in Navi Mumbai? Start close to home. Navi Mumbai is built as a set of nodes. Each node has its own homes, shops, schools and station. So the best school for your child is often a short walk away.

This guide comes from the early years team at MNR Golden Kids. We run four preschools in Kamothe and Kalamboli, and seven more in Panvel. In it, you will see how the city is laid out, which brands have centres in each node, what to check in a society preschool, and the age rules for 2027-28.

How Navi Mumbai is laid out, and why it matters

A state agency called CIDCO planned Navi Mumbai as a group of nodes. Two city bodies now run most of them:

Part of Navi Mumbai Main nodes Run by
North (Thane district) Airoli, Ghansoli, Kopar Khairane, Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, CBD Belapur Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, set up in 1991
South (Raigad district) Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalamboli, New Panvel, Taloja Panvel Municipal Corporation, set up in 2016

Why should this matter to you? There are three reasons –

  • A school in your own node is easy to find. Most nodes have a few good options. A 3-year-old rarely needs a long drive.
  • Addresses use both names. A school in Kamothe or Kalamboli may say “Navi Mumbai” or “Panvel”. Both are right, so search with both.
  • New nodes have their own guide. Ulwe, Karanjade and the areas near the new airport are in our Panvel preschool guide.

Preschool in Navi Mumbai: where to start, node by node

This table shows which big preschool brands list a centre in each node. It also shows where MNR Golden Kids is. The brand list comes from NaviMumbai.com’s guide, which checked each brand’s own website in October 2026. Centres open and close, so check the exact branch before you go.

Node Brands with listed centres MNR Golden Kids
Airoli, Ghansoli, Kopar Khairane EuroKids (Airoli), Kidzee (Airoli, Ghansoli, Kopar Khairane) No centre
Vashi, Sanpada EuroKids (Vashi), Podar Prep (Vashi) No centre
Nerul, Seawoods, CBD Belapur EuroKids (Nerul), Kidzee (Nerul, Belapur), Podar Prep (Seawoods) No centre
Kharghar EuroKids, Podar Prep No centre
Kamothe Kidzee 3 centres: Sectors 6, 18 and 20
Kalamboli and Roadpali EuroKids (Kalamboli) 1 centre: Sector 16, Roadpali
Ulwe, Karanjade, New Panvel EuroKids and Kidzee (Ulwe) 7 centres in Panvel and Karanjade

A brand name is a start, not a promise. Two centres of the same brand can feel quite different. So judge each one by its own teachers, rooms and routine.

If your own node has no school you like, look at the next node along. Just time the trip at drop-off time first.

Society preschool or big campus?

Many schools here run from row houses, flats or ground-floor shops in housing societies. Several MNR Golden Kids centres work this way too. Both kinds can be great. They just need different checks.

Society or building preschool Big or school-linked campus
Trip Often a short walk Often needs a van or car
Outdoor space Check with care; it may be shared Usually its own play area
Class 1 You apply to a big school later Some offer a path into their own school

What to check in a society or ground-floor preschool:

  • Rooms on the ground floor, with two ways out and no open stairs or balcony close by
  • Its own play area, or a set time in the society garden or a park, with a teacher
  • A locked gate that opens away from cars and parking
  • Small toilets inside the school, not shared with other shops
  • Good light and fresh air, plus a fire extinguisher and a clear fire plan

How we run our preschools in Kamothe and Kalamboli

Here is how our own team does it. You can use the same points to judge any school on your list.

  • We track growth every month. Each child’s teacher notes how they are doing, month by month.
  • We train for safety. Our staff repeat child safety training every two years.
  • We train our teachers. Our teachers are trained by the London School of Training, UK.
  • We teach through play. Kids learn to speak through stories, rhymes, show-and-tell and puppet play.
  • We start slowly. New children join with an orientation and a gentle settling-in time.

7 checks that matter most in Navi Mumbai

Our full preschool checklist covers the basics. These seven matter most here.

  1. A short trip. Aim for under 15 minutes door to door. Time the trip at drop-off time, not on a Sunday.
  2. Learning through play. Young kids learn best through play. That is the main idea of India’s National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage. Look for stories, rhymes, art and outdoor play, not stacks of worksheets.
  3. Teachers who stay. Ask how long the class teacher has worked there. A face your child knows matters more than any toy.
  4. On the state list. Since April 2025, private preschools for kids aged 3 to 6 must sign up on Maharashtra’s Pre-School Registration Portal. Ask to see it.
  5. A rainy-day plan. Ask where kids play when it pours. Ask how the school tells you if it shuts on a heavy-rain day.
  6. Hours that fit your work. If you travel to Mumbai or Thane, check pick-up times. Ask if there is daycare or care after school.
  7. A plan for Class 1. Ask which big schools the kids join next, and when those forms open.

Preschool fees in Navi Mumbai: what to ask

Most big brands do not post their fees online. Each centre sets its own. So ask every school for one written fee sheet. It should list:

  • The joining fee and any deposit you get back
  • The monthly or term fee
  • Meals, books, kits and uniforms
  • Van fees and daycare hours
  • Event, trip and late pick-up fees

Then add it all up for the first year. Compare that total, not the monthly fee. A higher fee does not always mean better care. It may just pay for a bigger brand name. Ask, too, if fees go up each year, and by how much. And ask if a second child pays less.

Preschool admission in Navi Mumbai for 2027-28

Maharashtra uses your child’s age on 31 December of the school year. For 2027-28, that usually means:

  • Playgroup: each school sets its own age; MNR Golden Kids takes kids from 2 years
  • Nursery: at least 3 by 31 December 2027, so usually born in 2024
  • Junior KG: at least 4, so usually born in 2023
  • Senior KG: at least 5, so usually born in 2022

Most schools take calls from September to December. They confirm seats in January and February. So October is a good time to start your visits. Check the exact cut-off with each school before you apply.

MNR Golden Kids: our four Navi Mumbai centres

MNR Golden Kids is part of the MNR Educational Trust. The trust began with one school in Hyderabad in 1974. In Navi Mumbai, we run three centres in Kamothe and one in Kalamboli. Seven more are in Panvel and Karanjade.

  • Classes: Playgroup from 2 years, Nursery from 3, Junior KG from 4, and Senior KG from 5
  • How kids learn: stories, rhymes, show-and-tell and puppet play for speaking; art and colour for fresh ideas; sports and dance for balance; smart classes and regular field trips
  • Care: monthly growth notes, and child safety training for staff every two years

Frequently Asked Questions

No one preschool is best for every child. Start with schools in your own node. Then compare teachers, safety, state sign-up and how much play is in the day. Visit two or three in class time before you choose.

Both. Kamothe is a CIDCO node of Navi Mumbai. Since 2016, it has been part of the Panvel Municipal Corporation, along with Kharghar, Kalamboli, New Panvel and Taloja. That is why addresses use either name.

A child must be at least 3 by 31 December 2027 to join nursery. That usually means kids born in 2024. Each school sets its own age for playgroup. MNR Golden Kids takes kids from 2 years.

They can be. Look for ground-floor rooms with two ways out, a locked gate, a safe play area, small toilets and a clear fire plan. A visit in class time tells you more than any brochure.

Big nodes such as Vashi, Nerul, Kharghar and Airoli have many options. The big brands list centres across all of them. Kamothe and Kalamboli also have a good mix of brand and local schools.

Only if your work hours need it. A preschool day is often just a few hours long. If both parents travel for work, ask about longer hours, meals, naps and late pick-up before you join.

We run three centres in Kamothe, in Sectors 6, 18 and 20. We have one in Kalamboli, in Sector 16, Roadpali. Seven more are in New Panvel, Old Panvel, Takka, Karanjade, Kon and Palaspe.
